Sorry for no post last week. We were swamped completing our move out of the house and into our temporary living arrangements all while trying to set the camper up on the land. We spent the week before the holiday just moving all the extras we still had in the house out to our storage container, just generally cleaning the inside of the house, and making sure we did not forget anything behind. Then the whirlwind of moving happened on Saturday. We moved the camper to a spot on the homestead that would keep it shaded During the day as we still do not have power out there yet and will not be running the generator while we are not there. We have arranged to stay at a house closer until we have at least power to plug into. Ultimately the day did not go as planned.
The dilemma started the night before when it rained for the first time in a few weeks. This set into motion some unforeseen circumstances that caused our day of moving to last a lot longer than normal. What I’m trying to say is that we got the camper and the truck stuck. Not only did we get it stuck, but when I went to get the tractor to help move it, the tractor had a flat tire, and the valve stem was missing. When it rains, it pours. After I managed to get the tractor fixed, we hooked it to the back of the camper to attempt to pull it to high ground and managed to jackknife the rig instead. With the help of a family friend, we remembered we had a 2-inch hitch with a ball on it that would attach to the back of the tractor. Now came the task of freeing the truck which was easy work for the tractor. After that, the tractor made quick work of freeing up the camper.
In other news, we hit some snags with selling our house. One issue during the inspection is that one of the bedroom windows had a crack in it and the inspector labeled it as a safety hazard. The lending bank was not going to move forward with the loan until this was fixed. Now, the window in question has been broken for longer than we owned the house and I never had any issues with it. Luckily our agent knew had to smooth it all over and we ended up not having to fix it and the lender was ok with it as-is. The Second issue should have never been an issue and took nearly two weeks to resolve and was not even remotely our fault. When the lender performed a lean check against our names, something popped up against Sarah. The problem was it was a different Sarah who lived in the same county as us. That in itself isn’t a problem. The problem comes from the lack of information that the debt collector law firm that filled the paper didn’t have enough information to clear her name. We spent days trying to get a simple statement from the said law firm that the Sarah who they filled a collection against isn’t the same as my Sarah. Debt collectors are scum and a useless lot. We finally got it resolved this morning with some help from the buyers agent. Soooooooooo….. WE HAVE A CLOSING DATE!!!!!!!! We will be signing papers on Monday and will be able really start getting things moving.

After we finally got the camper set up, an hour job that took about four hours instead, we spent the next few days moving things from the camper to our temporary accommodations. This will be a change for us as it is a block off the beach and the kids have already taken a few days to enjoy being on the beach as Sarah starts getting ready to start homeschooling them again. Trying to make space for all of our junk and a spot to set up for school is proving difficult as we are limited to a small area compared to what we are used to. But as always, we will adapt and overcome.
