Calm before the storm

Took another week to relax as we watched where Hurricane Helene would land and made some changes to our building plans.

Not much to report this week. We were in limbo watching Hurricane Helene and didn’t plan anything just in case. We decided to hunker down and see which way she would go. We were just outside of the storm and only got some wind thankfully. This gave us a chance to sit back and relax for another week before we go all-in on prepping the land for the building.

Sarah and I also sat down and discussed our plans moving forward. Our original plan was to start with a small two-bedroom one-bath apartment, a large garage, and a large carport to park our camper under. Then build a larger barndo that would be our permanent home. Of course, in between those two builds there would build an actual barn for the animals among other things that we will need to build. We have switched gears and decided to build the first building as planned but in the location of where we were going to put the main house and in the future just add to the building instead of building a completely new building. The problem now is that we have not started clearing the land for the main building. This is going to need to happen soon as we are actively looking for contractors to work the concrete for the slab as the parts for the building will be here in a few weeks. The weather is starting to cool off and is becoming prime time to get some work done. And of course, the tractor has some maintenance that needs to happen to it but I am waiting for some parts to come in for that to happen. Its all starting to stack up. Oh, and I start back in school in two weeks just to add a little more stress to the plan.

I did get the chance to add some lights to our golf cart for safety you know. To make it more visible while we are using it on the road at our temporary living arrangement. Added a brake light bar with reverse and turn signal lights to help in traffic when the cart is loaded with people. The regular tail lights are blocked by peoples legs and are nearly impossible to see. Also added a light bar to the front but this will be used more so at the land than on the road. Also added some under glow lights, you know, for visibility ( ;

We have some things going on this weekend with friends but next week we will start getting our plan in order and start getting the land set up for the changes we are making with the building placement. As long as Mother Nature doesn’t throw any more concerns in our direction. We are keeping our fingers crossed that the hurricane season will start to calm down soon.
